Regrettably, after 30 years of continuous public use, Wolf Creek Ski Area has been ordered to cease and desist from grooming the Cross Country Nordic Track Loop that skirted around the edges of Alberta Park by demand of the Leavell-McCombs Joint Venture (The Developers of The Proposed Village at Wolf Creek).
However the Forest Service has given the ski area permission to use all Forest Service roads that are in the Joint Venture Land. This includes the loop that uses the back road to Alberta Reservoir and additional cul-de-sacs have been added to the grooming network for a total of 10 kilometers of cross country trails. Ask for a map at the ticket office that shows all groomed trails.
To get there take the ski road at the end of the lower parking lot to Alberta Park. A 6 kilometer loop takes you down to Alberta Reservoir and back through the trees, with an additional 4 kilometers in Alberta Reservoir Area. Tracks are groomed regularly for both classical and skate skiers. Snowshoers are welcome. Please clean up after your dogs. Use of the cross country trail is compliments of Wolf Creek Ski Area — no charge. Please allow enough time to complete the tour well before dark. This area is not patrolled — please take a friend.
